COMMITTEE MEETING - 27th March 2007

Overtaking on a Yellow Flag

A number of riders have been seen overtaking while a yellow flag is being displayed and one rider nearly hit two committee members at Newnham. All riders are aware that it is dangerous and against BSMA and Club Rules to overtake on a yellow flag. For those who are unclear, an extract from the rule states:-

'Yellow - ride with caution. Maintain position and be prepared to stop. Any rider who gains a position will sustain loss of all points for that race.'

To Sum Up  There is no overtaking on a yellow flag as per the BSMA rulebook. Anyone unsure of the rule should refer to their handbook.

Parking on the Track

In a similar vein, will all riders remember that they must not stop dead on the track unless the bike has packed up. Stopping to remove goggles, pass the time of day with a marshall (AMX riders!), etc are all dangerous, as a sudden stop can cause an accident.

COMMITTEE MEETING - 13th February 2007

Items/decisions reached at Committee are as follows:-

 1. Club Fees
Fees will go up from Sunday 18th February. The new fees are:-
      Autos: £20                 Schoolboy: £25                      AMX: £30

2. Team Event
This year's Team Captain will be Martin Crane, aided and abetted by Lee Martin! The decision about the team
members will be made after the 8th round of the Summer Championship at Rakings Hole.  The teams will consist of

the top 3 riders in each group as determined by their standings in the Championship after the points from the 8th round

are added. There will be no dropped round taken into consideration for the team event.  Each group will also have one

wildcard rider chosen by the Team Captain.

3. Chief Marshall
Jane Dennis is now Chief Marshall. Our thanks go to Debbie Rye, who will continue as Chief Lapscorer.

4. Noise Reducing Inserts
The BSMA has introduced a noise level of 94dB for all bikes and we will be undertaking checks at meetings.
DB Dawg  Noise Reducers are available. These are simple inserts that fit into the pipe and "can reduce the level by
up to 6db with no noticeable power loss". We can get them at a reduced price - please let Denise Lynds or
Ann Cooper know if you are interested. They are less than £30 and the twin pipe bikes only need one. 2 Stroke
and 4 stroke bikes will be checked, but it is the 4 strokes that these inserts are intended for. More information
will be available at the meetings, but please contact Gary Lane or Steve Bliss for any technical info.

PERPETUAL TROPHIES

Since there was such a poor response to the nominations for the above, (17 forms returned out of 200, and some removed from the ballot box), the Committee will meet again this week to vote for the recipients.

At the AGM, the few members who bothered to come wanted the members to vote for the Trophies.
Sadly, the usual few returned their forms; the vast majority couldn't be bothered.

So, if you don't agree with the decisions the Committee make, you should have made the effort and returned your form.

If you want a say in how the Club is run, then you have to make an effort.  Come to the AGM on the 17th December and be heard. Go on the Committee and help run the Club.

But, if you can't be bothered, then you have to accept the decisions made by the people who CAN be bothered."

COMMITTEE MEETING - 19th October 2006

Amongst other matters concluded at the meeting, the following decisions and notifications are drawn to the Members attention:-

Bike Changes at Meetings

In future, if any rider changes their bike during a meeting, they must inform Anna Cornelius or Gary Lane and the Clerk of the Course in writing, immediately.
It should be noted that if a change of bike and/or number occurs without written notification then the accuracy of points cannot be guaranteed.  Riders should check their points on the day and any queries  raised without delay.

Winter Championship

With the days getting shorter, it has been decided to run the Winter Championship meetings as follows:-

1st Block  : Full times as usual
2nd Block : 5 laps + 1 lap   (Amended 2007 to 10mins + 1 lap; Autos 8mins)
3rd Block : 4 laps + 1 lap.   (Amended 2007 to 8mins + 1 lap)

Presentation

Where more than 2 adults are coming to the presentation per family, the additional adults will need to buy tickets (£5 each).  These will be on sale at all the meetings from the Newnham onwards and on the door on the night.

Rider's Awards

If you are coming to the Presentation, but you did not qualify for a trophy, and would like a Rider's Award, please let either Anna, Gary, Debbie or Ann know by 29th October 2006. You can also email us on:-
Annie2101@btinternet.com          REMEMBER!! YOU ONLY HAVE 1 WEEK TO LET US KNOW!!!
